Donnerhall
Donnerwetter, Donnerhall sire, was a successful international Grand Prix horse. His ability to perform and his inheritance are obviously stamped by his maternal line. Matador is also the dam-sire of Der Loewe xx, the most important sire in German riding horse breeding, having sired the Olympic dressage horses Liostro, Loewenstern, and Lucky Boy.
Donnerhall’s dam Ninette is represented by the competition horses Discovery ad Wilhelm Tell. Her sire Markus (a son of the sire of dressage horses Manolete xx) is represented by the advanced show jumper Mailach 2 (won over 40,000 DM).
- Breed values place him and offspring on the “Top List of Dressage Stallions”
- 1984 - Reserve Champion of Stallion Performance Test excelling in rideablilty (9.0 in training and 9.5 outside rider)
- 1986 – Dr. Haring, FN, “The most brilliant champion stallion next to Romadour II”
- 1987 – Placed in Intermediate dressage competitions for the 1st time
- 1988 – First advanced wins
- Winner of more than 65 dressage competitions up to international level and Grand Prix
- 1992 – 14 wins in Grand Prix and Grand Prix Specials; Bronze Medalist in European Championships
- 1994 – Bronze Medalist in World Championships; German Champion
- 1997 – Team European Champion
His stud career is nearly as spectacular as his performance career:
- 1987 – 1st approved son, premium stallion Don Primero
- 1989 – Reserve Champion filly at the German Breeding Championships
- 1990 – Don PRimero won the German Dressage Horse Championships (5 yr. olds) in Verden
- Dressage star Diamond Day was sold through the PSI auction for 480,000 DM
- Dressage index listings confirm the placement of the “D” (Donnerhall) stallions with a 181 index score (1999 winter values) ahead of W from Weltmey (189 index score). **
- In 2002, Donnerhall’s blood is found in “23 Hanoverian stallions, in 202 registered broodmare, in numerous auction horses, and in 309 registered performance horses with earning of DM 1,3 million.”
- Hanoverian magazine says “He [Donnerhall] seems to cross especially well with mares by Pik Bube.”
Pik Bube I
In every respect, Pik Koenig was the most successful approved son of the famous sire of show jumpers, Pik As. As a sire of competition horses he is still very popular, although he died in 1984. He left 15 approved sons and about 200 registered main studebook mares. Until 1990, the progeny won more than 1 million DM. Pik Bube's grandam Dohlenfuerstin is the former international show jumper Daniela 12, who successfully competed under H. Sttenken. She produced the Grand Prix show jumper Prince Charming (by Prinz Gaylord).
- Pik Bube was schooled to advanced dressage by Herbert Rehbein
- Showed only in 1983; won 2 intermediate dressage competitions and achieved 3 wins; several placings in advanced dressage competitions right from the start
Like he himself, his progeny have always been in high demand. The competition horses sired by him are successful dressage horses e.g. Pasha 203 and Pik Primaire (Grand Prix winner) and successful show jumpers, e.g. Prometheus and Pik Lady 5. His approved sons are much sought after in Germany.
